Found poem on how one day Europe will destroy itself in a hail of Men Fire

I decided to upload this poem, found in one of my shopping receipts last December, for posterity. Not that it will do much good, posterity being rarely apocalypse-proof. Having said that, I also thought it fit to include a gloss to the poem written collaboratively with friends on Facebook. Names have been redacted to protect the frivolous.

  1. I got so bound up in the modernist reading that I forgot it was also telling me what you shower with. That’s some sort of basic alienation from reality happening right there πŸ™‚

    • Yeah, my original intention was just to use red ink to emphasise the weirdness of ‘Easy Peelers’ as a receipt-worthy synonym for clementines, when all of a sudden I realised what I’d stumbled upon…

      • I remember a greengrocers in Bristol where cos lettuce, and for that matter garlic, appeared on the receipt as ‘fancy goods’ πŸ™‚
